With Jive Connects for Microsoft Office, the add-in for Microsoft Office, you can enable your community members to share Office
documents with each other. They can share Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents. When they make changes to a shared document on their
computer, Jive Connects for Microsoft Office synchronizes the document with the version that's visible in the community, and provides
real-time notifications to users working in the same document. The notifications tell users that content has changed, plus give them the
option to incorporate the changes into their version using a merge tool. This keeps the content on the community up to date, but also
synchronizes comments, tags, and collaboration settings between the community and the user's document.
Note:
- Although non-English content is supported in documents, the Jive Connects for Office
only provides English buttons in its user interface at this time.
- Jive Connects for Microsoft Office does not allow customizations of the module
itself.
- You can secure access to Jive Connects for Office. For more info, see Configuration Support for External Client Access in
Jive SBS main help.
The following list helps you manage and deploy your Jive Connects for Microsoft Office module.
- If you haven't installed the pugin, do so by following the steps in Installing the
Plugin.
- You can hide the Download Jive Connects for Office link if you don't want
users to install it themselves, or disable Jive Connects for MS Office completely.
To perform either of these tasks, you need to adjust the appropriate system
property:
- officeintegration.enabled:
true to enable support for a preview view of some
documents, including PDFs and those from Microsoft Office; default is
false.
- office.integration.plugin.download.enabled:true to
expose the message and link that enables users to download the add-in for
Microsoft Office, so they can share Office documents with others in Jive SBS;
default is true. Set to fals if you don't want users to do
their own installation of this plugin.
