You can specify that polls shouldn't be visible in the Recent Activity widget. Ordinarily, the widget lists activity such as when people post new content, comment on something, vote in a poll, and more. You can exclude poll activity from the widget's list by using the admin console.
Admin Console: System > Settings > Polls
In the admin console, on the Polls Settings page, select the Hide poll activity check box.
