Synchronizing LDAP Users

You can manually synchronize users or synchronize them during a nightly batch job, but make sure you allow for performance and take care to use the correct rules.

Typically, a user's profile is synchronized to LDAP each time the user logs in to the community. This occurs if you selected Synchronize User's Profile on Login during setup. However, you may occasionally want to synchronize users manually. This should occur when:

You have added a number of new users in LDAP who have never logged into the community
You want to mass-disable community users from LDAP.

You can also run synchronization nightly to catch up with any changes during the day.

Note that if you set LDAP rules that exclude some of the users who are enabled in Jive and then do a mass synchronization (nightly or manually), the excluded users will have their Jive accounts disabled.

To manually synchronize LDAP:

In the Admin Console, click People > Settings > User Data Synchronization Settings
Make sure your synchronization settings are the way you want them and that you are currently managing some profile fields through LDAP. If you aren't managing any fields, synchronization won't pick up any LDAP changes such as new users.
