Developer Documentation Overview

The following sections discuss modifying and extending the Jive platform, from simple modifications such as theming, which change the look and feel of a community, to coding your own custom applications and plugins to work inside of Jive.

This documentation links to a variety of API resources. The future direction of third-party Jive development, however, is through Apps, lightweight programs that operate within Jive, communicate with attention streams, and can leverage information from both Jive and other enterprise applications. You can read detailed information about developing Apps and using the required APIs on the Jive Apps Developer Community at

Note: The OpenClient API for previous versions of Jive, is no longer supported and won't work with Jive 6. We recommend using the Jive Core REST API v3 or Jive Apps with the Javascript API v3 for new development.
