Overview of blog permission levels
Blog permission levels enable people to view, create, and comment on blogs within the Jive platform, distinguishing between non-global and global blogs.
Non-Global Blog Permission Levels
Non-global blog permission levels allow users to interact with blogs associated with specific places. Managing permissions for these blogs varies based on their location:
Blog Location | Permissions Management |
---|---|
Space | You manage permissions for blogs in a space when you manage permissions for the space. For more information, see Managing space permissions. |
Social Group | Access for blogs in social groups is always completely open. If the social group's creator allows a blog for the group, then all members can perform all allowed tasks, such as viewing and posting. For more information, see Managing social group permissions. |
Project | Blogs in projects inherit blog permissions from the place the project is in. In other words, a blog for a project in a space inherits blog permissions from that space. For more information, see Managing space permissions. |
Global Blog Permission Levels
Global blogs are not associated with a specific place, space, group, or project. They include system blogs representing the community as a whole and personal blogs representing individual community members. You can only use standard permission levels for global blog permissions.
Admin Console: Permissions > Blog Permissions
Permission | Access Granted |
---|---|
View Blog | View and read all public blog posts |
Create Blog | Create and manage a personal blog, and author blog posts in it |
Comment | Leave comments on public blog posts |
Note: You configure settings and membership for global blogs using the Blogs tab of the Admin Console. For more information, see Managing blogs.
