Standard space permission levels

Jive includes several predefined space permission levels that you can assign to user groups or individual users. Additionally, you can create custom permission levels and user overrides to design exceptions to existing rules.

You can see the list of space levels on the Space Permissions page in the Admin Console, on the Standard Levels tab.

You may want to create a custom permission level for specific users or groups or set up user overrides for particular individuals. This allows for more granular control over access and permissions.

Custom Permission Levels and User Overrides for Spaces

When you create a custom permission level or a user override, you're designing exceptions to existing rules. Those exceptions could replace default permission levels, custom levels you've created, or one-off overrides for specific users.

Fastpath

Admin Console: Permissions > Space Permissions Admin Console > Permissions > Spaces

When customizing permissions, your options are divided into three categories:

  1. No Access: Available for a user override only, this option lets you exclude a particular user from access to the space.

  2. Access Space: This provides fine-grained control over permissions specific to each content type, allowing customization at a deeper level.

  3. Manage Space: This category allows you to assign administrative roles specific to the space.

Access Space

When customizing, you can grant custom content-specific access in the space. This includes a list of content types with various access levels.

Manage Space

This category allows the assignment of administrative roles. Below are the available access levels:

Full ControlCustomize the space details, manage permissions, and create subspaces.
ModerateApprove or reject content before publication and manage content after it is published.

Full Control enables a user to have comprehensive management over the space, including the ability to assign other roles.

Moderate permission allows content moderation and provides access to the moderation queue, which is essential for ensuring quality content in the space.
