Editing standalone videos

If you created a video and then found that you need to change it – add a better thumbnail, for example – you can edit the video.

Standalone uploaded videos can be edited similarly to other content types. You can change the video, title and description. Additionally, for uploaded videos, you can choose another thumbnail and add or replace caption / transcription files.

Editing uploaded videos has some notable distinctions. The video may be processed anew even if you do not upload a new video file; this is required to correctly update all content files and metadata of the video. Until the processing is completed (which may take some time), the video will be available only by its direct URL. Besides that, even though the version counter is updated when you save the changes, Jive does not keep previous versions of the video content, including the video itself and its related files. That is, you will not be able to restore any of the previous versions for a video. For more information on video processing when editing uploaded videos, see About Jive Video provider.

To edit a video:

  1. Open the video the Video content type icon you want to edit.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Make the desired changes.

  4. Click Update.

The video becomes available once the processing is finished.
